Director of Media Strategy & Activation

Responsibilities

  • Build and own a unified media strategy across brand and performance marketing.
  • Set annual and quarterly investment theses, define channel portfolios, and make spend tradeoffs.
  • Manage total media investment across paid search, paid social, programmatic, display, video, mobile, affiliate, and brand channels.
  • Own planning, forecasting, pacing, and in-quarter budget reallocation against efficiency and growth targets.
  • Integrate brand and performance media through reach, frequency, creative strategy, and channel-mix planning.
  • Design and operate the appropriate mix of in-house capabilities and agency partnerships.
  • Develop AI-enabled workflows for creative production and testing, audience modeling, budget allocation, bid strategy, reporting, and quality control.
  • Connect media signals to activation, conversion, product-qualified leads, expansion, and retention in partnership with Product Growth, Sales, and Marketing Data Science.
  • Partner on attribution, incrementality testing, and media mix modeling; translate performance tradeoffs into executive recommendations.
  • Lead and grow channel and brand media teams, including ownership clarity, measurement, hiring, coaching, performance management, and organizational design.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in media, performance marketing, or digital marketing with increasing leadership responsibility at a high-growth B2B and/or B2C company.
  • 4+ years leading teams, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and organizational design.
  • Hands-on expertise across paid search, paid social, programmatic, display, video, and mobile, including planning, forecasting, budget pacing, audience design, and performance management.
  • Experience owning brand media alongside performance media, including brand-lift measurement, reach and frequency planning, and creative performance optimization.
  • Track record managing significant media budgets and demonstrating impact on acquisition efficiency, pipeline, or revenue.
  • Experience managing agency and vendor ecosystems and building in-house capabilities.
  • Strong analytical fluency in attribution, incrementality testing, MMM/MTA concepts, and unit economics such as CAC, LTV, and payback.
  • Experience marketing across self-serve, product-led, and sales-assisted motions and consumer, SMB, and mid-market segments.
  • Excellent executive communication and recommendation-building skills.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Agency and in-house experience, ideally building media expertise agency-side before leading media at a technology or high-growth company.
  • Experience using AI-enabled or agentic media workflows for creative generation and testing, audience modeling, automated reporting, budget optimization, or bid optimization.
  • Experience building a media strategy or media planning function.
  • Familiarity with CDPs, marketing automation, attribution platforms, tagging, and data governance.
  • Experience navigating privacy changes, cookie deprecation, and first-party data strategy.
  • Multi-product portfolio experience, including cross-sell and attach motions.
  • International or EMEA media experience.

Compensation

  • US Zone 2: $205,800–$278,400 USD.
  • US Zone 3: $182,900–$247,500 USD.
