Forward Deployed Engineer

Build and deploy production-grade integrations for strategic customers, owning system design, troubleshooting, and end-to-end delivery across complex data and ML pipelines. The role requires 3–8 years of software engineering experience, API and data integration expertise, strong communication, and high autonomy.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship high-quality, production-grade code integrating Encord into complex customer data and machine learning pipelines.
  • Own system design decisions for customer deployments, balancing correctness, scalability, and speed.
  • Work directly with client engineering teams to diagnose problems, scope solutions, and ship end-to-end fixes.
  • Build data integrations and technical solutions supporting customer onboarding, adoption, and scale.
  • Communicate technical plans and tradeoffs clearly to engineering counterparts and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Operate autonomously by identifying problems, selecting solutions, and delivering outcomes with minimal oversight.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to incorporate customer insights into the product roadmap.
  • Help define and scale the Forward Deployed function as an early team member.

Requirements

  • 3–8 years of experience in a software engineering role.
  • Experience building or working with data integrations and APIs.
  • Python experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and take ownership independently.
