Senior Forward Deployed Engineer

Responsibilities

• Serve as a dedicated, long-term technical partner embedded within a strategic customer’s engineering organization.
• Design, build, and deploy production-ready code and configurations using the Cloudflare platform.
• Own the account’s technical success across the Cloudflare portfolio and act as the primary technical point of contact.
• Participate in customer engineering rituals, including standups, design reviews, and incident response.
• Accelerate adoption of Cloudflare services across the customer’s technology stack.
• Develop broad and deep expertise across Cloudflare products, including Workers, security, networking, and observability.
• Surface product gaps and real-world edge cases to Cloudflare Product and Engineering teams.
• Build trusted technical relationships with Staff+ engineers, directors, and vice presidents.
• Maintain a regular on-site presence at customer locations.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Track record of delivering production-grade systems and owning mission-critical services.
• Experience with modern programming languages such as TypeScript, Rust, and Golang.
• Experience with on-call rotations, incident response, and high-availability architecture.
• Broad full-stack architectural fluency spanning frontend performance, backend logic, databases, and distributed infrastructure.
• Experience integrating AI-augmented development workflows into daily engineering work.
• Ability to design scalable, resilient technical architectures from complex business requirements.
• Deep experience with at least one major cloud provider, including serverless, networking, and security primitives.
• Self-directed approach and ability to own solutions end-to-end in ambiguous environments.
• Ability to communicate technical trade-offs and business impact with VP-level stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building with Cloudflare Workers or the broader Cloudflare Developer Platform.
• Experience at a fast-paced startup or in a customer-facing engineering role working directly in a partner’s codebase.
• Open-source contributions, technical blogging, or industry conference speaking experience.

Compensation and Benefits

• Bay Area hires: estimated annual salary of $194,000–$266,000.
• Eligibility to participate in Cloudflare’s equity plan.
