Responsibilities
- Define the technical roadmap, system design, and architectural standards for the product domain.
- Write production code, conduct code reviews, resolve complex technical bottlenecks, and own critical-path architecture.
- Partner with Product and Design to evaluate feasibility, scope features, refine requirements, and guide product direction.
- Coach and mentor engineers through pair programming, architecture reviews, and software-craftsmanship practices.
- Participate in customer calls to understand product usage, system performance, and UX gaps.
- Improve RFC processes, testing strategies, CI/CD pipelines, system monitoring, and post-mortem resolution.
- Conduct technical interviews and evaluate engineering talent.
- Manage a team of 2–5 through 1:1s, performance reviews, and career-growth planning.
Requirements
- 8+ years of total software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of formal people-management experience with direct reports on a high-performing engineering team.
- Strong architectural intuition and hands-on full-stack proficiency.
- Product acumen and experience shaping technical direction based on customer impact.
- Experience collaborating with Product Managers and Product Designers in fast-paced startup environments.
- Ability to operate with ambiguity and changing priorities.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Hands-on experience or deep technical interest in LLMs, AI agents, and modern AI workflows.
Nice-to-Haves
- Early- or growth-stage startup experience.
- Experience architecting, deploying, or operating AI-powered or agentic platforms at scale.
- Experience with React, TypeScript, AWS, Pulumi, Postgres, ClickHouse, or Turbopuffer.
- Technical leadership for mobile products, ideally with React Native.
