Manager, Commercial Account Management
Leads and scales a commercial account management team responsible for customer retention, renewals, and expansion. Responsibilities
- Hire, coach, and develop a team of commercial account managers.
- Set goals and provide feedback on pipeline management, negotiation, and customer relationship skills.
- Own the team’s rolling forecast and meet retention and expansion targets across the portfolio.
- Build and refine customer lifecycle playbooks, processes, and tools from onboarding through renewal and expansion.
- Review portfolio health, identify churn risk, and prioritize account interventions.
- Participate in complex renewals and expansion conversations, including commercial negotiation and deal structuring.
- Build scalable account management practices.
- Partner with Deployed Engineers, RevOps, and Product on post-sale strategy and customer feedback.
- Track retention, net revenue retention, forecast accuracy, pipeline coverage, and team performance.
- Support quoting, procurement, and contract processes, and resolve escalations.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in a quota-carrying, customer-facing role such as Account Management, Customer Success, or Renewals Management, preferably in B2B SaaS.
- 2+ years of direct experience managing or leading account managers, customer success managers, or similar quota-carrying representatives.
- Proven record of achieving team-level retention and expansion targets, including Gross Renewal Rate and Net Revenue Retention.
- Strong coaching and commercial negotiation skills.
- Experience overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder renewal and expansion cycles.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to explain the value of complex technical products.
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to work with customer executives and cross-functional leadership.
- Proficiency with CRM software such as Salesforce.
- Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience at a high-growth, developer-first, or AI/ML infrastructure company.
- Experience managing teams under a consumption- or usage-based pricing model.
- Experience building an account management function and its initial playbook.
- Familiarity with the modern AI/LLM stack.
