Leads the technical strategy, roadmap, and execution of Databricks’ Learning product, a 0→1 self-serve experience designed to scale to millions of learners. Requires extensive software engineering and management experience, full-stack technical depth, distributed-systems expertise, and experience scaling both products and engineering organizations.

Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical and product strategy for Learning within the broader self-serve growth motion.
- Own roadmap, execution, and delivery for a 0→1 product scaling to millions of learners.
- Establish engineering best practices covering design reviews, code quality, testing, and performance.
- Lead development across self-paced learning, hands-on labs, durable learner skill profiles, and enterprise-managed learning tools.
- Partner with R&D, Learning & Enablement, Marketing, and Field Engineering.
- Lead and grow an engineering team of approximately 12 engineers, with plans to roughly double the team.
Requirements
- 15+ years of software engineering experience with a strong record of technical leadership and impact.
- 5+ years of engineering management experience, including 2+ years managing other managers or clear readiness to do so.
- Staff-engineer-caliber individual contributor background before transitioning to management.
- Full-stack experience, including backend engineering; not solely frontend or UI experience.
- Experience leading teams with a mix of frontend and full-stack engineers.
- Experience scaling engineering teams from 10 to 30+ engineers.
- Track record building and scaling consumer-facing products, ideally taking early-stage products from 0→1 through scale.
- Experience designing scalable, distributed, customer-facing systems, ideally in a SaaS environment.
- Ability to align technical strategy with company growth objectives across product, engineering, and go-to-market partners.
- Excitement for product-led growth and applying AI in real products.
Compensation
- Local pay range: $222,000–$300,000 USD.
- Total compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
