Forward Deployed Engineer, Agentic Platform

Build and deploy reliable, secure LLM-powered agents and workflows for UK public-sector and enterprise customers. The role combines applied AI software engineering, customer-facing technical leadership, and end-to-end delivery across North’s platform.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Translate ambiguous enterprise business problems into agentic workflows with clear success criteria and evaluation methods.
  • Design, build, and deploy LLM-powered agents that reason, plan, and act across tools, APIs, and sensitive enterprise data.
  • Build and ship features for North across the full product lifecycle, from conceptualization through production.
  • Own use-case scoping and delivery end to end, flexing into areas such as frontend engineering when needed.
  • Contribute shared frameworks and patterns for consistent, high-quality delivery.
  • Improve clarity, alignment, and engineering quality across the organization.
  • Travel 20–40% to work onsite with customers and partners.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience building and deploying production-grade software in Python.
  • Experience building and deploying performant RAG and agentic applications, including multi-step planning and execution patterns such as ReAct or Plan-and-Execute.
  • Deep familiarity with the LLM stack, frontier models, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience building evaluation frameworks to measure agent accuracy, safety, and latency.
  • Experience working directly with customers and leading technical discussions with enterprise stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business needs into concrete technical specifications.
  • Experience owning the full scope of a use case end to end.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Active DV clearance is highly preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience setting architectural standards for AI and agentic systems across distributed teams.
  • Ability to work in unfamiliar technical areas, including frontend engineering.
  • Exposure to regulated or sensitive industries such as finance, healthcare, or telecommunications.
  • Experience with enterprise security, compliance, or auditability requirements for AI systems.

Compensation and benefits

  • Weekly lunch stipend of $75/£75 or equivalent local currency.
  • Full health and dental benefits, including a separate mental health budget.
  • RRSP matching, 401(k), and pension scheme.
  • 100% parental leave top-up for up to six months for either parent.
  • Annual enrichment benefits for arts and culture, fitness and wellness, quality time, and workspace improvements.
  • Education and learning stipend for conferences, courses, and coaching.
  • Six weeks of paid vacation, equal to 30 working days.
  • Travel budget for remote employees to visit other offices and an annual company offsite.
  • Coworking benefit and a $500 home office stipend.
