Mission Operations Engineer

Deploys and integrates software for hardware-focused customers, providing training, technical support, project leadership, and product feedback. The role requires 4+ years in hardware or data engineering, strong customer-facing communication, and experience with operational environments such as test stands, satellite missions, or flight testing.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and integrate Nominal technology into customers’ high-stakes operational environments.
  • Tailor deployments to unique customer requirements and environments.
  • Build deep customer relationships and partnerships while expanding Nominal’s presence and impact.
  • Act as an account manager and product expert for customers.
  • Train users and provide frontline product support.
  • Gather user feedback and translate it into actionable product improvements.
  • Diagnose and resolve operational and technical issues quickly.
  • Bridge customer needs and Nominal’s product and engineering teams.
  • Lead technical projects from planning through deployment.
  • Travel up to 50%.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional experience in hardware engineering and/or data engineering.
  • Experience with environments such as propulsion test stands, satellite mission operations, or flight testing, or experience constructing data models and helping users turn data into decisions.
  • Strong systems thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical and physics intuition.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and influence technical projects.
  • Leadership, collaboration, humility, empathy, and eagerness to learn.
  • Experience turning technical concepts into reality and managing projects through deployment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.

Nice-to-haves

  • Active or eligible-to-obtain UK SC/DV security clearance or equivalent.
  • Experience as an operator, customer success leader, and/or technical program manager.
  • Familiarity with Influx, Grafana, Spark, Polars, Arrow, Kafka, Beam, or Flink.
  • Proficiency with hardware engineering tools including DAQs, DDS, Nix, RTOS, MCAP, H5, TDMS, LabVIEW, Simulink, or WinPlot.
