Forward Deployed Engineer
Build and deploy production agents, integrations, data pipelines, and infrastructure directly within strategic customers’ environments. The role requires strong production engineering depth, agent or LLM integration experience, adaptability across unfamiliar stacks, and credible customer-facing communication.

Responsibilities
- Build production-quality agents, integrations, and data pipelines on Redpanda ADP within customer environments and codebases.
- Quickly understand unfamiliar codebases, data environments, and technical constraints.
- Own technical deliverables from design through production deployment and clean handoff.
- Serve as the technical voice and trusted engineering partner for customer teams.
- Build with handoff in mind; document solutions, train customer teams, and avoid creating dependencies.
- Identify recurring customer needs and feed productization opportunities back to Product and Engineering.
Requirements
- Production software engineering experience with backend systems, data pipelines, APIs, or agent systems.
- Experience building agents, using LLM APIs, or integrating complex systems.
- Ability to work effectively in unfamiliar codebases and technology stacks.
- Strong customer-facing communication with engineering leads, architects, and individual contributors.
- Experience shipping challenging systems in a customer-site or deployment context.
Nice-to-haves
- Forward-deployed or customer-embedded engineering experience.
- Streaming or real-time data systems experience, including Kafka, Flink, or Redpanda.
- Experience in regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, or the public sector, or in air-gapped environments.
- Experience serving as the first or only technical person on an engagement and running it end-to-end.
Compensation and Benefits
- UK salary base range: £131,914–£155,194 GBP.
- Travel is expected at 30–50% during active engagements and is lighter between engagements; on-site work occurs while builds are live.
