Staff Engineer, Software Autonomy Applications
Deploys and integrates Shield AI’s Hivemind autonomy software with customers, develops C++ AI and autonomy applications, and provides technical support and training. The role requires a bachelor’s degree with 7+ years or a master’s degree with 5+ years of industry experience, plus substantial customer-facing travel.

Responsibilities
- Deploy with customers on site globally, with approximately 50% travel, to support software integration and development activities.
- Become an expert user of the Hivemind enterprise software stack and its autonomy modules.
- Provide technical support and training to customers on Hivemind.
- Develop AI and autonomy applications using the Shield AI enterprise software development kit.
- Assist the sales team with pre-sales activities, including demos, conferences, and immersions.
- Support post-sales deployment and integration of Shield AI enterprise software products.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and training materials.
- Help customers debug software and API integration issues.
- Collaborate with product engineering to address customer feedback and improve products.
- Act as a technical leader across engagements by elevating team performance, driving execution across cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful delivery in complex environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 7+ years of industry experience, or a master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field and 5+ years of industry experience.
- Strong technical background in software engineering.
- Strong proficiency writing modern C++ code.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in the defense, aviation, or robotics industry.
- Prior experience as a customer-facing solutions engineer, application engineer, or sales engineer.
- Experience in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
- Advanced technical degree, especially in robotics or autonomy-related fields.
