Onboarding Engineer - Presales
Provides customer-facing technical leadership for product evaluations, proof-of-concept deployments, migrations, and onboarding. The role partners with sales, presales, professional services, engineering, and support while advising on architecture, cloud deployment, Kubernetes, and distributed data technologies.

Responsibilities
- Execute customer proof-of-concept studies.
- Become an expert in Starburst products and services.
- Consult on architecture, deployment, and design discussions.
- Advise Professional Services on post-sales deployments and onboarding.
- Serve as a customer-facing technical resource during technology evaluations.
- Provide product feedback for internal product engineering discussions.
- Design and execute strategic team projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Support on critical customer operational issues and questions.
- Develop field best practices and how-to documentation, and contribute to the internal knowledge base.
- Provide technical leadership and project consultation for customer deployments, migrations, and production execution.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Expertise or experience in analytical and problem-solving skills, ANSI SQL, UNIX/Linux command-line interactions, data warehouse concepts, private or public cloud deployments, big data technologies, Hadoop, distributed systems, and distributed storage.
- Expertise with Kubernetes platforms such as EKS, AKS, GKE, and OpenShift.
- Experience in customer-facing technical roles.
- Prior experience with Trino or Presto is desirable.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to respond dynamically to questions in real time.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment with emerging technologies.
