Engineering Manager
Manages and develops software engineers while contributing part-time as a senior software engineer on production product work. The role requires 7–8 years of software engineering experience, 2–3 years of people management, object-oriented design expertise, and fluent English.

Responsibilities
- Coach up to 6 direct reports, usually every two weeks.
- Define expectations and collect and deliver feedback.
- Build career development plans using a skill-leveling matrix.
- Participate in performance-related decisions with other managers, including proposing and calibrating salary raises and addressing underperformance.
- Optionally lead ad hoc projects with other managers to structure engineering, such as organizing technical demos, facilitating All Hands, or improving the skill-leveling matrix.
- Understand products and customer needs in detail and suggest innovative ideas that deliver value to end users.
- Translate functional requirements into elegant, simple designs and deliver production software.
Requirements
- Experience as a software engineer working on a product in production; for managers, this experience is evaluated at a senior level, usually from 7–8 years.
- At least 2–3 years of people-management experience.
- Proven experience designing object-oriented software with languages such as C#, Java, C++, Golang, Rust, Python, or Ruby.
- Strong software engineering skills and the ability to understand product and customer needs.
- Great team spirit and a problem-solving attitude.
- Humility and willingness to grow.
- Fluent English; French is not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range of 90,000–140,000 in the ATS-provided currency.
