Manager I, Engineering - Applied AI/ML Product Analytics Suite
Leads and grows an Applied Scientists team building proactive, agentic AI/ML capabilities for Datadog’s Product Analytics suite. The role combines people leadership, technical vision, hands-on review, and productionizing research in analytics, NLP, and user-behavior domains.

Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of Applied Scientists researching, prototyping, and industrializing AI/ML capabilities across the Product Analytics suite.
- Define the technical vision and roadmap for agentic and proactive AI/ML capabilities, including event understanding, conversational analytics, insight reporting, and session-replay issue detection.
- Stay hands-on as a technical contributor and reviewer, helping move research prototypes to production-grade capabilities.
- Shape how AI capabilities are built and delivered across the suite in partnership with product and engineering leadership.
- Hire and onboard Applied Scientists as investment in applied AI/ML scales.
- Represent the team’s progress and priorities to stakeholders across Product Analytics and broader AI efforts.
Requirements
- Experience as a technical leader with a background in applied AI/ML, ideally including hands-on research or applied science experience.
- People-management experience, supported by strong technical credibility.
- Comfort operating in greenfield ambiguity and defining direction and structure where little exists.
- Experience taking ML/AI capabilities from research prototype to production, ideally in analytics, NLP, or user-behavior domains.
- Ability to communicate technical AI/ML concepts clearly to product and engineering stakeholders.
- Motivation for early-stage, high-impact work and comfort with ambiguity.
