Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy for time-boxed, targeted customer engagements, typically one to five months, moving critical workloads from evaluation to production.
- Own architecture discussions and drive Databricks platform adoption with customer architects and engineering leaders.
- Design scalable, production-grade solutions across data engineering, ML/AI, real-time analytics, distributed data systems, cloud deployments, scalable pipelines, streaming, and lakehouse patterns.
- Lead whiteboarding, design reviews, trade-off analysis, and technical decision-making with senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrate Databricks differentiation through custom-built solutions in competitive opportunities.
- Establish momentum in ambiguous situations while maintaining production-quality standards.
- Transition engagement progress to core solutions architects, data and domain specialists, or partners.
- Share reusable patterns, plays, and product feedback across the organization.
Requirements
- Typically approximately 6+ years of experience in solutions architecture, data engineering, technical pre-sales, or a senior hands-on technical role, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on coding ability in Python and SQL, including building, debugging, and demonstrating working solutions.
- Depth in distributed data systems and production cloud deployments using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with scalable pipelines, streaming, lakehouse patterns, infrastructure, security, and governance.
- Proficiency with Databricks or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies.
- Experience leading architecture discussions with senior technical stakeholders and translating complex architecture into business value.
- Comfort with ambiguity, time-boxed engagements, prioritization, variety, and high-impact work.
Nice to Have
- Databricks certifications in data engineering, machine learning, or platform technologies.
- Familiarity with Snowflake, AWS native services, or Azure Synapse.
- Background at a data/AI company or cloud provider.
- Industry expertise in financial services, healthcare, retail, media, or other verticals.
