The Head of Product Marketing will lead the product marketing function, owning strategy, operating model, and talent development. This role involves setting PMM strategy, elevating narrative quality, driving business impact, and building a championship PMM team.

The Role
The Head of Product Marketing will own the end-to-end strategy, operating model, performance bar, and talent development for the Product Marketing function at Plaid. This leader will:
Set the PMM Strategy & Operating Model
- Own and operationalize the PMM structure (Product Areas and Industry)
- Finalize and institutionalize the PMM operating model
- Define clear “PMM does / PMM does not” guardrails
- Clarify cross-functional engagement norms with Product, GTM, Marketing, Comms
- Establish KPI frameworks that tie PMM work to measurable business impact
Elevate Quality & Narrative Coherence
- Own Plaid’s central product narrative
- Raise the messaging and positioning bar across all products
- Ensure consistent product naming, positioning discipline, and storytelling rigor
Drive Business Impact
- Partner with Product on product-market fit strategy
- Partner with GTM leadership to increase:
- Quota attainment
- Time to close
- Campaign lift for priority industries
- Ensure launch discipline, release alignment, and post-launch optimization
Build and Develop a Championship PMM Team
- Directly manage senior PMM leads
- Reset expectations where unclear scope exists
- Upgrade performance management and leveling rigor
- Coach senior ICs and managers toward executive-grade PMM craft
- Recruit and calibrate top-tier PMM talent
Serve as Executive Interface
- Act as senior thought partner to: CMO, CEO/CPO, COO and Sales Leadership
- Represent PMM in executive decision-making forums
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in product marketing leadership at high growth B2B SaaS companies.
- Experience managing large, multi-layered teams (15+)
- Proven success as a Product Marketing leader at a B2B SaaS company of similar scale
- Has built and led a team of world-class product marketers
- Success in a multi-dimensional phase of marketing maturity: multi-product / solution, multi-segment, multi-buyer
- Is a builder - has been successful as a leader in a start-up / small company experience
- Low ego, high EQ
"Nice to Have" Experience
- Domain experience: payments, credit, fintech, bank start-up
- Experience working with / selling into financial institutions / banks
- Experience marketing in a regulated environment
- Experience in founder-led environments
- Experience with PMM ‘rebrands’
