Head of Revenue Accounting & Order to Cash

Lead MongoDB's Revenue Accounting, Technical Revenue, and Order-to-Cash functions as the senior authority on ASC 606 revenue recognition. Oversee strategy, transformation, automation, and global team development while partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Product, and Finance on complex consumption-based and hybrid cloud models.

About the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Set the strategic vision and operating model for Revenue Accounting Operations, Technical Revenue, and Order-to-Cash—building the maturity, scalability, and rigor needed to support MongoDB's next stage of growth.
  • Lead and develop senior leaders across the function, with accountability for organizational design, location strategy, talent development, succession planning, and cross-functional execution.
  • Own the company's technical revenue accounting strategy—including policy development, complex contract analysis, and revenue recognition conclusions under ASC 606.
  • Strategically partner with and influence Product, Sales, and Deal Strategy on new products, pricing and packaging, and emerging revenue models.
  • Own end-to-end oversight of the order-to-cash lifecycle—spanning billing, collections, and revenue recognition—including process design, controls, and cross-functional handoffs.
  • Lead the revenue close operating model, with governance over reconciliations, analytics, controls, reporting quality, and predictable execution across monthly and quarterly cycles.
  • Lead transformation initiatives by partnering with IT to define and execute the roadmap for revenue systems, data, automation, and AI-enabled workflows across the revenue and order-to-cash ecosystem.
  • Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing global organization and create scalable ways of working that can support future growth, complexity, and organizational change.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience across revenue accounting operations, technical revenue, order-to-cash, controllership, or adjacent finance functions.
  • Big 4 background and meaningful time in a public company, high-growth SaaS, software, cloud, or technology environment.
  • Deep expertise in ASC 606, technical revenue accounting, including complex contract structures, variable consideration, and policy interpretation in evolving commercial environments.
  • Strong command of end-to-end order-to-cash processes and cross-functional interdependencies across Sales, Deal Strategy, Legal, Billing, Collections, Accounting, FP&A, and IT.
  • Demonstrated success improving revenue and order-to-cash processes through automation, systems, data quality, operating cadence, and cross-functional governance, with experience across ERP, CRM, CPQ, billing, revenue automation, reporting, and AI-enabled workflow tools.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, simplify complex issues, make sound decisions in fast-moving environments, and translate technical and operational issues into clear executive recommendations.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including experience hiring, developing, and retaining senior talent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA strongly preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience supporting global scale with increasing business complexity, including consumption-based or hybrid-cloud revenue models.
  • Experience leading organizational change and modernizing order-to-cash infrastructure during periods of rapid growth or transformation.
  • Experience evaluating, piloting, and scaling AI use cases within finance operations to improve productivity, decision support, controls, or service delivery.

What does success look like

  • Revenue and order-to-cash processes are reliable, scalable, and increasingly automated.
  • Technical revenue guidance is timely, practical, and trusted by Finance and go-to-market leaders.
  • Cross-functional teams can move faster on complex deals because decision rights, processes, and tradeoffs are clear.
  • Revenue close, controls, and reporting are predictable, well-governed, and audit-ready.
  • The function has strong leadership depth, better operating mechanisms, and a roadmap that supports future scale.
  • The company has better visibility into revenue performance, execution risk, and operational opportunities across the end-to-end revenue lifecycle.
  • The team is using AI and automation in practical, well-governed ways to eliminate low-value manual work, increase capacity, and surface meaningful process improvements.
