Responsibilities
- Build reliable abstraction layers over a fragmented healthcare system and translate them into seamless, empathetic user experiences
- Own features from database schema to UI for therapist practice management including scheduling, AI-assisted clinical documentation, and payment management
- Build interfaces and APIs for patient & provider engagement, communication, and personalized experiences
- Design and build systems that manage clinical data with high-integrity experiences for treatment plans and progress notes, integrating AI-powered clinical intelligence
- Turn insurance credentialing into a sleek, consumer-grade experience with products and tooling for providers
- Own tools and experiences that expand Headway's reach — acquiring new providers and empowering existing ones
- Build systems, tools, and processes that enable the team to ship innovative products quickly, safely, and reliably
- Work with cross-functional leadership to shape the roadmap and technical strategy
Requirements
- End-to-end product builder comfortable with both API architecture and user experience
- Experience turning ambiguous problems into shipped software with ability to define solutions and coordinate across teams
- Makes technical decisions optimizing for maintainability and scale
- Proactively improves engineering velocity through tooling, automation, and patterns
- Mentors engineers through design discussions and code reviews
- Ships fast and iterates quickly, preferring good v1 this week over perfect v1 next month
- Quick study in complex domains with ability to build mental models fast
- Communicates clearly and concisely in Slack, design docs, and cross-team meetings
- Experiments with applying LLMs to real workflows including code generation, operational automation, and developer tooling
