Staff Software Engineer, Patient Experience

Leads technical direction for patient-facing mobile and web products, while shaping engagement features, architecture, and engineering practices. Requires deep consumer or healthcare product experience, technical leadership, and comfort working across the full stack.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical direction for mobile development and patient-facing mobile and web applications.
  • Prototype and ship features with product and design partners to improve patient engagement and retention.
  • Help shape product strategy for patient support and retention during the first month of care.
  • Talk directly with patients and collaborate with product, design, and clinical teams to translate needs into features.
  • Mentor junior engineers and raise team engineering standards.
  • Define architecture patterns, technical standards, and development practices for patient-facing products.

Requirements

  • Deep experience building and shipping consumer- or patient-facing mobile, web, or cross-platform products.
  • Experience serving as a technical lead, setting architecture direction, and mentoring engineers.
  • Ability to work across the full stack in a fast-moving startup environment.
  • Interest in using LLM coding agents to increase engineering impact.
  • Strong collaboration skills with product and design teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • React Native or other cross-platform mobile development experience.
  • Experience in healthcare, wellness, or other high-trust consumer domains.
  • Experience with engagement, retention, or onboarding flows.
  • Experience with AI/ML or agent-based systems.

  • Expected base salary: $220,000–$260,000 annually.
