Staff Software Engineer, Internal Tools & Automation
Build and own full-stack internal tools, automations, and AI-agent workflows embedded with Crusoe stakeholder teams. The role requires 8+ years of production software experience, staff-level judgment, strong SQL and data modeling, and the ability to deliver reliable solutions quickly.

Responsibilities
- Embed with stakeholder teams to observe manual workflows and identify high-leverage opportunities for software.
- Build interactive applications that read data, apply decisions, and write results back to systems of record.
- Automate workflows with pipelines and agents, involving people when judgment is required.
- Own work end to end: scope problems, build, deploy, measure adoption, and iterate.
- Contribute reusable skills, integrations, and UI patterns to shared platform building blocks.
- Build reliable tooling on sources of truth while respecting governance and access controls.
Requirements
- 8+ years building and owning production software.
- Staff-level judgment and experience turning ambiguous, greenfield charters into shipped software with limited direction.
- Full-stack engineering experience across user interfaces, backend services, APIs, and data layers.
- Strong SQL and data modeling skills, including data warehouse navigation, pipeline reasoning, and data validation.
- Product mindset and ability to collaborate with non-engineering stakeholders.
- Ability to deliver quickly while maintaining correctness and production quality.
- Experience using LLM agents and automation platforms, with an understanding of appropriate guardrails.
- Strong ownership and focus on measurable stakeholder outcomes.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience as a forward-deployed, solutions, or embedded engineer.
- BI or analytics engineering experience with Sigma, Looker, dbt, or Tableau.
- Familiarity with Workato or n8n.
- Experience with MCP, agent frameworks, or LLM tool use.
- Comfort working in an early-stage, highly ambiguous environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation range: $215,000-$260,000 plus bonus.
