Responsibilities
- Lead the development and refinement of systems powering payments compliance.
- Partner with technical leaders inside and outside Compliance to design and build service-oriented, configurable, auditable systems that efficiently leverage existing capabilities.
- Work with Product, Design, Policy, Operations, and other cross-functional partners in a globally distributed team to define and ship impactful features.
- Partner with engineering teams across Airbnb to serve users holistically.
- Lead and mentor engineers inside and outside the immediate team.
- Advance engineering processes and technical foundations by identifying patterns that streamline development, reduce toil, and improve technical quality and operational excellence.
- Establish technical vision and alignment while delivering flexible, highly available, efficient, scalable solutions.
- Build compliance experiences for hosts and guests, including collection and management of required information.
- Develop systems for screening individuals and businesses against global regulatory requirements and continuously auditing compliance controls.
Requirements
- 9+ years of industry experience in a fast-paced technology environment.
- BS, MS, PhD in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and experience leading teams on call for production systems.
- Hands-on experience leading project teams and setting technical direction and strategy.
- Proficiency in one or more back-end server languages such as Java, Ruby, Go, or C++.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React.
- Exposure to architectural patterns for high-scale web and data applications.
- End-to-end ownership mentality and a long-term approach to regulatory systems.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards and experience implementing related controls.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base pay range: $212,000–$265,000 USD.
- May be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
