Solutions Architect, EU Trade & Customs

Leads technical sales and solution architecture for European public-sector customers in customs, trade, and economic security. Requires 5+ years of international trade experience, strong presentation skills, software-tool experience, and familiarity with EU operations or government procurement.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for Altana’s work with customs authorities, finance ministries, and trade enforcement agencies across the EU.
  • Apply expertise in government-side trade and customs, including customs enforcement and modernization, sanctions and export controls, forced labor and supply chain due diligence, and CBAM.
  • Architect solutions, run demos, support deal closing, navigate complex stakeholder conversations, and shape how Altana’s platform meets European public sector needs.
  • Support sales processes for prospective and existing customs and trade customers by identifying use cases and stakeholder needs.
  • Become a power user of the Altana platform and produce original analysis to facilitate the sales cycle.
  • Contribute to product development with product managers, data scientists, engineers, and customer-facing stakeholders.
  • Help establish Altana’s presence in the European Union through recruiting, knowledge building, and domain expertise development.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the international trade space.
  • Strong knowledge of customs and trade processes or economic security practices.
  • Familiarity with solutions in open and commercial data environments.
  • Experience working with and delivering software tools and frameworks.
  • Excellent presentation skills for technical and executive audiences, including whiteboard discussions, presentations, and demos.
  • Ability to connect customer business problems with Altana’s solutions.
  • Passion for solving complex challenges in global trade.
  • Drive to establish Altana’s European Union business.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience using modern AI tools.
  • Working knowledge of European Union or member-state operations.
  • Familiarity with government procurement processes.

Work Arrangement

  • Based in the Netherlands with hybrid work flexibility.
  • Candidates must be within commuting distance of Amsterdam.
