Responsibilities
Developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms and conditions for all new business and renewals
Actively identifying target accounts that fit Shepherd’s underwriting appetite
Marketing, producer management, and new business development
Successfully negotiating on all levels with both internal and external partners
Risk analysis with a focus on construction and/or casualty underwriting
Demonstrating knowledge and proficiency with compliance, coverage, products and pricing strategies
Being adaptable and creative in a fast paced startup environment
Requirements
Minimum of 5+ years of previous experience in the commercial underwriting space (Construction, Casualty, and/or Builder's Risk experience preferred)
Strong sales and marketing skills and ability to position accounts and close deals
Exceptional interpersonal skills (verbal and written) and a high EQ
Strong work ethic, self-motivated, and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
Not afraid of ambiguity
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Solid background in risk analysis and experience with construction and/or casualty underwriting
Knowledge and proficiency with compliance, coverage, products and pricing strategies
Teamwork, communication, and negotiation skills
Nice-to-Haves
Experience in high-hazard industries or insuring infrastructure projects like data centers, semiconductor fabs, or renewable energy assets
