Plant Supplier Quality Engineer
Leads plant-level supplier quality response, containment, non-conformance disposition, and corrective actions to protect high-volume assembly operations. Requires a bachelor's degree and 6+ years of plant, manufacturing, or supplier quality experience, plus expertise in structured problem solving and core quality tools.

Responsibilities
- Act as the first responder to supplier material quality issues identified on the assembly line, in receiving, or in pre-assembly inspection areas.
- Implement containment activities such as sorting, rework, scrap, and stop shipment to prevent line disruption.
- Own in-plant disposition of non-conforming materials; raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports and ensure segregation, identification, and disposition of affected parts.
- Lead corrective actions for in-plant supplier quality issues with Manufacturing, Vehicle Engineering, and supplier-site Supplier Quality Engineering partners.
- Assess the immediate impact of part quality issues on assembly operations and support updates to assembly procedures and work instructions for temporary supplier deviations.
- Analyze and report line fallout rates, non-conformance trends, and containment effectiveness to leadership.
- Identify systemic quality risks from in-plant failures and collaborate with the Supplier Quality Engineering team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or an equivalent technical discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in Plant Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Supplier Quality within a high-volume manufacturing environment; automotive, aviation, or similar industries preferred.
- Experience in a production plant environment and strong understanding of assembly-line operations and the effect of material quality on production flow.
- Experience with structured problem-solving methods, including 8D, Six Sigma, fishbone analysis, 5 Whys, and statistical analysis.
- Working knowledge of process flow diagrams, Process FMEAs, control plans, Statistical Process Control, and Measurement System Analysis.
- Familiarity with APQP and PPAP supplier-quality processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing for rapid part assessment.
