Leads and develops a backend and infrastructure engineering team building AgentControl evaluation services, while owning delivery, reliability, hiring, and cross-functional planning. Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of engineers through coaching, feedback, career growth, performance management, and technical mentorship.
- Partner with Product Management and Design to scope, estimate, and sequence roadmap work, making real-time scope tradeoffs.
- Own feature delivery, ensuring work meets timelines and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with adjacent AI Agents, Observability, and Feature Management teams on shared infrastructure and dependencies.
- Communicate roadmaps, risks, and progress to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Establish team norms that promote collaboration, reduce silos, and maintain engagement.
- Improve reliability, observability, and incident response for production infrastructure.
- Participate in hiring and help raise the engineering bar.
Requirements
- 3+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years managing backend or infrastructure engineers.
- Ability to translate business goals into engineering plans and reliable estimates in partnership with Product Management.
- Strong communication skills in distributed, cross-time-zone teams.
- Track record of coaching and developing engineers, including performance management and career growth planning.
- Familiarity with observability practices, including metrics, tracing, alerting, and structured logging.
- Comfort with production incident response.
- Familiarity with AI providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, Amazon Bedrock, and Gemini.
- Familiarity with AI tooling such as LangChain and Arize.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Go and Python or comparable backend languages such as Java, Rust, or Ruby.
Compensation and Benefits
- Zone 1: $191,800–$263,670 for San Francisco/Bay Area, the New York City metropolitan area, Boston, and Seattle.
- Zone 2: $172,600–$237,270 for Irvine, Los Angeles, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, and Chicago.
- Zone 3: $163,000–$224,070 for all other US locations.
- All zones include a 10% bonus target.
- Compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
- Benefits include restricted stock units, health, vision, dental, and mental health benefits.
