Solutions Architect

Own the technical sales cycle for enterprise data-platform accounts, designing production-scale architectures, proving performance through customer-specific benchmarks, and leading migrations from incumbent systems. The role requires deep data infrastructure expertise, customer-facing communication, and enterprise evaluation experience.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Own technical evaluations for enterprise accounts from discovery through proof of concept or competitive bake-off, architecture sign-off, security review, and the first production workload.
  • Engage data platform engineers, architects, SREs, security stakeholders, and executives to design solutions that satisfy diverse technical and business requirements.
  • Design production-scale architectures, including sizing, sharding and replication, ingestion topology, tiered storage, cost modeling, and failure scenarios.
  • Win competitive displacements using reproducible benchmarks based on customers’ own data.
  • Own migration plans covering sequencing, dual runs, validation, and cutover.
  • Clear security and procurement requirements, including questionnaires, compliance artifacts, network and identity architecture, and BYOC or private deployment needs.
  • Partner with Enterprise Account Executives on technical wins, commercial opportunities, and total cost of ownership cases.
  • Advocate for customer needs internally with Product and Engineering.
  • Create reference architectures, benchmark harnesses, migration guides, and objection-handling materials.

Requirements

  • Deep technical foundation in data infrastructure, developed as a data engineer, platform engineer, software engineer, DBA, or solutions architect.
  • Production experience operating analytical databases such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Druid, Pinot, or Vertica.
  • Strong distributed-systems judgment, including partitioning, replication, consistency trade-offs, and query execution.
  • Fluency across the modern data stack, including Kafka and CDC pipelines, orchestration, object storage, BI tools, and at least one major cloud platform.
  • Experience conducting technical evaluations against named competitors and leading migrations from incumbent systems.
  • Customer-facing experience in pre-sales, consulting, technical account management, or a staff-level engineering role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work with both staff engineers and executives.
  • Ability to manage long enterprise sales cycles with multiple stakeholders.
  • Willingness to recommend against ClickHouse when it is not appropriate for a workload.

Benefits

  • Flexible work environment at a globally distributed, remote-friendly company.
  • Healthcare contributions.
  • Stock options.
  • Flexible time off in the United States and generous entitlement in other countries.
  • USD $500 home-office setup allowance for remote employees.
