Leads Supabase’s globally distributed Billing engineering team, owning people management, roadmap delivery, billing-system reliability, and incident response. Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Billing engineering team in a remote-first, globally distributed environment.
- Run 1:1s, performance management, career development, onboarding, and people administration.
- Coach engineers working across backend applications, data pipelines, external integrations, and operational workflows.
- Own the team hiring plan, participate in interviews, headcount planning, and organizational design.
- Own the Billing roadmap and project management in Linear, balancing product capabilities with correctness, resilience, supportability, and technical debt.
- Manage workflow intake and triage; prioritize work, dependencies, risks, and customer or revenue impacts.
- Communicate updates and tradeoffs to stakeholders and leadership.
- Train as and serve as an Incident Commander; coordinate resolution, customer-impact assessment, and post-incident reviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years of engineering experience.
- 3+ years managing remote engineering teams.
- Experience managing a billing engineering team at a cloud, SaaS, or developer tools company.
- Experience leading remote, globally distributed, asynchronous teams.
- Strong technical judgment and credibility with engineers building complex systems.
- Demonstrated performance management experience, including difficult conversations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with subscription lifecycle and monetization mechanics, including plans, billing cycles, proration, credits, discounts, refunds, taxes, dunning, collections, disputes, and chargebacks.
- Experience with usage-based billing at scale, including metering, quotas, pricing, late-arriving data, reruns, backfills, and reconciliation.
- Production experience integrating billing and payment providers such as Stripe or Orb, including APIs, webhooks, invoice lifecycles, payment failures, event ingestion, and outage handling.
- Experience with entitlements, pricing enforcement, auditable controls, and customer-specific overrides.
- Experience collaborating with Finance, Data, Product, Support, Sales or Revenue Operations, and Partnerships.
