Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of engineers building gamification experiences.
- Partner with product, design, marketing, data, and engineering leaders to plan and deliver features that improve member engagement and retention.
- Identify technology investments needed for system health and long-term success.
- Plan, sequence, and deliver engineering work while managing tradeoffs and measurable outcomes.
- Hire, coach, and support engineers through one-on-ones, goal setting, delegation, and conflict resolution.
- Maintain a transparent, continuously improving delivery cadence.
- Establish ownership, accountability, deliverables, and milestones across stakeholders.
- Manage urgency, escalate risks, and drive incidents and post-mortems through resolution.
- Build durable fixes and communicate root causes to prevent recurrence.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience managing teams of five or more engineers and testers.
- Strong understanding of distributed backend systems and user-facing features.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience building and shipping mission-critical B2C systems where data correctness and rollout strategy are important.
- Strong technical fluency for participating in engineering discussions and aligning partners.
Nice to have
- Experience with gamification platforms and products.
- Experience building reusable frameworks and decision models.
- Experience with feature gates, experimentation, and A/B testing platforms.
- Professional experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React, Ruby with Rails or Roda, or Golang with Echo.
Compensation and benefits
- Salary range: $200,000–$215,000 annually.
