Engineering Manager, AI & App Experience

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a squad of 4–5 engineers through hiring, 1:1s, career coaching, and performance management.
• Own end-to-end squad delivery, including sprint planning, delivery commitments, service SLAs, and operational health.
• Write and ship production code alongside the team.
• Own technical direction, architecture, and quality standards, either through a squad tech lead or directly.
• Use AI coding agents and tooling to improve individual and team productivity and establish durable adoption practices.
• Guide the design and delivery of LLM-powered capabilities, including agent experiences, evaluations, guardrails, and observability.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and Risk on scope, prioritization, and quarterly planning.
• Coordinate technical dependencies, identify technical debt, and promote sustainable engineering practices.
• Maintain quality, performance, operational health, on-call, and incident-response practices.
• Develop engineers toward higher individual-contributor levels or future technical leadership roles.

Requirements

• 2+ years of people-management experience.
• Current, hands-on coding ability and willingness to continue writing code.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor to deliver software and drive measurable team adoption.
• Fluency building with LLMs and AI tooling.
• Familiarity with shipping LLM-powered products, including agents, evaluations, prompt strategies, guardrails, and observability, or the ability to learn these areas quickly.
• Experience coaching teams on project execution, skill development, and career progression.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Data Science, and other partners.
• Experience with Python, Ruby, React Native, distributed systems, AWS data and compute services, and service-oriented architectures.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary: $199,000–$275,000.
• Eligibility for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits.
• In-office policy generally includes four days per week in the office and Fridays from home near company offices; a fully remote program is also available.
