Staff Software Engineer
Build scalable Java backend services and Apache Druid features for Imply’s observability data platform. The role leads cross-team initiatives and requires at least five years of backend service experience, with Kubernetes, cloud, database, and streaming technology expertise valued.

Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain microservices and backend software components in modern Java.
- Develop and maintain features within Apache Druid.
- Lead the design and development of major features across teams.
- Coordinate with product management, UX design, frontend engineers, and backend engineers to deliver initiatives, features, and products.
- Participate in on-call rotations for production issues (two weeks per cycle, four to six times per year).
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building and maintaining highly scalable and reliable services in Java or a similar language.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, cloud providers such as AWS, or related technologies.
- Experience with relational and/or OLAP databases.
- Experience with agile methodologies.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Apache Druid.
- Open-source contributions to Apache Druid or another open-source database.
- Experience with streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka and Apache Flink.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: $185,000–$225,000 in on-target earnings.
