Advisory / Senior Solutions Architect

Responsibilities

Design and architecture

• Design scalable, performant applications, systems, and infrastructure for large software projects using MongoDB.
• Guide customers on MongoDB architecture patterns and optimization strategies.
• Review complex existing application architectures and recommend technology improvements.

Customer advising and value articulation

• Serve as a trusted advisor to customers ranging from startups to large enterprise IT organizations.
• Clearly communicate technical and business concepts and MongoDB’s value to technology and business leaders.
• Foster strong customer relationships, build champions, and ensure customer success and satisfaction.

Sales partnership

• Collaborate with sales teams on account planning, opportunity prioritization and qualification, and pipeline-generation strategy.
• Own technical sales activities including discovery, demonstrations, proofs of value, presentations, sizing, and documentation.
• Develop multi-threaded account strategies and align MongoDB and ecosystem resources toward shared account plans.

Demand generation

• Generate demand through technical initiatives and participation in industry trade shows and account-based marketing events.

Innovation and development

• Improve MongoDB solutions and processes, including relaying field feedback to the product team.
• Mentor other Solutions Consulting team members.
• Pursue ongoing training and professional development on MongoDB products and industry trends.

Requirements

• 12+ years of related experience in a customer-facing role; 3+ years of enterprise software presales experience is preferred.
• 3+ years of professional experience with modern scripting or programming languages such as Python, Node.js, SQL, C/C++, Java, or C#.
• Experience designing scalable, highly available distributed systems in cloud and on-premises environments.
• Experience reviewing complex application architectures with customers and recommending improvements.
• Excellent presentation, communication, interpersonal, technical leadership, and business communication skills.
• Ability to strategize with sales teams and develop multi-threaded account strategies.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience selling databases or deploying applications with major cloud providers.
• Experience with database programming and data models.
• Experience in data engineering or AI/ML projects.
• Experience transforming legacy systems into modern, scalable, efficient technology stacks.
• Understanding of MEDDPICC or Command of the Message.
• MongoDB or cloud provider certification.
