Engineering Manager, Cloud Platform

Leads and develops a team responsible for AWS cloud foundations and Kubernetes infrastructure, while setting priorities for reliability, security, scalability, and cost management. Requires substantial cloud-platform experience, production Kubernetes expertise, AWS knowledge, and engineering people-management experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers; manage performance and create the conditions for them to do their best work.
  • Own AWS cloud foundations across compute, networking, identity, and core services, serving as the team’s technical owner and primary escalation point.
  • Drive cloud cost observability and attribution through tagging, reporting, and accountability practices.
  • Recommend and execute commitment-based AWS cost strategies, including evaluating and managing Savings Plans and Reserved Instances based on usage forecasts.
  • Set and communicate technical priorities, balancing reliability, security, cost, and delivery against department and company objectives.
  • Ensure the platform remains scalable, secure, and resilient for internal engineering teams and customers.
  • Partner with Security and Platform leadership on shared standards, infrastructure roadmaps, incident response, and cross-team priorities.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working within a cloud platform or infrastructure-focused organization.
  • Proven experience managing Kubernetes at scale in production, including cluster lifecycle and upgrades.
  • Strong hands-on familiarity with AWS, including compute, networking, IAM/identity, and core services.
  • Experience leading, coaching, or managing engineers through formal people management or significant technical-lead responsibility.
  • A record of growing and retaining talent.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and GitOps practices such as Terraform and Helm.
  • Ability to manage change across shared infrastructure.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to align technical priorities with organizational objectives and collaborate across security, engineering, and leadership.

Compensation

  • National pay range: $129,000–$175,000 CAD.
  • Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for stock options, bonuses, and merit increases.
