Engineering Manager
Leads a cross-functional product engineering pod, owning its roadmap, delivery, team development, and technical quality. The role requires hands-on coding, experience managing and growing engineers, and comfort operating in ambiguous, resource-constrained product environments.

Responsibilities
- Own a product pod’s roadmap, delivery, team health, and growth.
- Lead a cross-functional pod of 4–6 engineers, a product manager, and a designer around shared goals.
- Shape team culture and processes, develop engineers’ careers, and handle performance conversations.
- Stay hands-on with technical work by writing and reviewing code, weighing in on architecture, and supporting day-to-day delivery.
- Maintain accountability for the quality and product outcomes of the team’s work.
- Potentially work on consumer product experimentation, client-to-lawyer matching and intake, attorney tools, or AI-native legal products and workflows.
- Hire and lead engineers through periods of rapid growth.
Requirements
- More than 1 year managing at least three engineers.
- Experience developing senior individual contributors and early-career engineers.
- Experience leading teams in a high-performing product organization with product managers and designers.
- Ability to operate effectively with ambiguity and limited resources.
- Serious recent use of AI coding tools, with a clear perspective on their effective use and quality control.
- Hands-on coding experience and strong opinions about system design and implementation.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency with Go, TypeScript, Next.js, Temporal, or Google Cloud.
- Experience in complex professional workflows such as legal, healthcare, or financial services.
Compensation and Benefits
- Anticipated base salary: $195,000–$264,500, plus equity and benefits.
