Staff Software Engineer
Build and evolve scalable authentication features, APIs, and mobile-app infrastructure for Auth0’s Native Apps team. The role requires 8+ years of software development experience, strong Node.js/API and database expertise, technical leadership, and secure use of AI coding assistants.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop features, APIs, and fixes for current and future scale.
- Serve as a technical steward for the codebase, ensuring technical integrity, architectural evolution, and long-term scalability.
- Proactively identify what is needed to make projects successful.
- Improve customer experiences with the product.
- Collaborate with the support team on customer questions.
- Participate in on-call rotations to troubleshoot production issues.
- Lead team discussions and mentor engineers toward senior-level growth.
- Improve team productivity.
- Use AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Google Gemini, and Claude for prototyping, boilerplate generation, refactoring, unit-test generation, documentation, and edge-case simulation.
- Audit, debug, and secure AI-generated code to meet authentication standards.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience creating public or internal APIs with Node.js, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
- Production experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, and NoSQL document databases, especially MongoDB.
- Experience with mobile CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Autonomous, proactive, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Strong attention to detail and user experience.
- Comfortable working in a highly collaborative, remote-friendly environment.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building APIs for mobile apps and SDKs.
- 1+ year of experience in identity and access management (IAM).
- Experience with Go.
- Experience with Terraform.
- Frontend experience with React or Vue.js.
- Deep understanding of the Node.js event loop.
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code and related tools such as Fastlane, Gradle, Snyk, or Terraform.
