Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, and delivery of complex software projects and product capabilities.
• Write production code, maintain key repositories, and resolve incident root causes.
• Break down complex problems into actionable tasks and support predictable delivery.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Clinical, Quality, and engineering teams on technical strategy and execution.
• Integrate AI technologies into care-delivery workflows and product features.
• Improve maintainability, availability, performance, observability, resilience, and developer tooling.
• Participate in operational response, including on-call and incident management.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance.
• Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders and document solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 4+ years of experience with at least one programming language.
• 4+ years of experience across the full software development life cycle.
• 3+ years of experience with React.js and Node.js/TypeScript.
• At least 1 year of mentoring and leading junior team members, cross-functional collaboration, and project planning.
• Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, LangChain, or LangGraph.
• Experience delivering large software projects or production features.
• Proficiency in a modern programming language such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
• Ability to work in the Bengaluru office 3 days per week and attend occasional late-evening meetings aligned with San Francisco working hours.

• Platform-as-a-product mindset and experience improving developer experience and adoption.
• Strong backend and distributed-systems fundamentals, including latency, throughput, availability, capacity, backpressure, consistency, resilience, and failure-mode analysis.
• Experience integrating large language models or generative AI into production workflows with evaluation, validation, observability, and failure handling.
• Experience with SLOs, SLAs, error budgets, service-health metrics, alerting, on-call practices, incident response, and root-cause analysis.
• Experience with metrics, structured logs, traces, dashboards, actionable alerts, caching, database performance, query and index tuning, connection pools, and capacity management.
• Experience with headless CMS integrations, webhooks, vendor adapters, content delivery networks, or publishing pipelines.
• Experience with Temporal or comparable durable workflow orchestration technology.
• Experience with FFmpeg, adaptive bitrate video, text-to-speech, speech-to-text, or WebVTT captions.
• Experience with Kafka and CI/CD automation using GitHub Actions.
• Experience in healthcare, privacy-sensitive, regulated, or other high-trust environments.
• Experience mentoring senior engineers or serving as a technical lead for a platform, migration, or cross-functional launch.
