Staff Fullstack Engineer
Build and lead end-to-end web application features for Okta’s identity platform, spanning React and TypeScript frontend development alongside Java, Spring Boot, and MySQL backend services. The role requires extensive full-stack experience, strong testing practices, and enterprise-scale performance and security expertise.

Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex, high-performance features using React and TypeScript.
- Architect and optimize server-side logic and data models using Java, Spring Boot, and MySQL.
- Collaborate with product managers, UI/UX designers, and backend engineers to translate requirements into robust frontend solutions.
- Write clean, modular, well-tested, and maintainable code.
- Develop, secure, and maintain scalable backend services and REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and responsiveness across devices and browsers.
- Contribute to frontend architecture and long-term maintainability.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure code quality.
- Address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Evaluate emerging frontend tools and approaches.
- Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and technical excellence.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional experience in full-stack development, focused on complex web applications.
- Deep expertise in React, including hooks, component lifecycle, and state management.
- Proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
- Solid understanding of HTML5 and CSS3.
- Experience with Webpack, Babel, Vite, and Yarn.
- Backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with MySQL, data modeling, and query optimization.
- Experience consuming and integrating RESTful APIs.
- Experience scaling enterprise-grade Java and Spring Boot applications, including API security and database performance tuning.
- Familiarity with Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright.
- Strong understanding of Git.
- Experience with responsive design and accessible web interfaces.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with design systems and component libraries.
- Understanding of identity and access management protocols and architecture, including FIDO, U2F, WebAuthn, SSO, SAML, OAuth, and federation.
- Contributions to open-source projects.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working on large-scale enterprise-grade software.
