Senior Software Engineer, AI Framework Integrations

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and ship MongoDB integrations across AI frameworks including LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, n8n, and Mastra.
• Own integrations from exploratory spike through production release and ongoing maintenance.
• Take ownership of ambiguous problems and drive them to completion independently.
• Assess new frameworks, define minimum viable integrations, validate them with users, and recommend further investment.
• Contribute high-quality code upstream to external repositories and work through maintainer review cycles.
• Build and maintain CI/CD, automated testing across framework and server versions, compatibility practices, and release readiness.
• Own operational health, including monitoring, upgrades, breaking-change response, issue triage, and post-launch follow-through.
• Partner with the Database Experience organization on required driver, platform, and product capabilities.
• Collaborate with product management, product design, partners, field teams, and open-source maintainers.
• Shape architecture and development practices, conduct code reviews, share knowledge, and mentor engineers.
• Track Python, TypeScript, and AI builder ecosystem developments.
• Identify emerging opportunities and communicate issues, risks, and resource needs clearly.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building backend systems or developer-facing libraries.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience building core components for scalable, high-availability services, developer platforms, or libraries.
• Experience designing, writing, testing, debugging, and performance-tuning software in large, long-lived codebases.
• Ability to identify problems, implement solutions, and deliver complex projects independently with minimal guidance.
• Product-minded judgment and comfort making pragmatic tradeoffs amid ambiguity and rapidly evolving technologies.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining prioritization and quality.
• Strong interest in AI frameworks, agentic patterns, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector search, and developer tooling.
• Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills.
• Collaborative, approachable, curious, and intellectually honest working style.

Nice to Have

• Meaningful open-source contributions, especially to repositories maintained by others.
• Experience building AI or framework integrations, MCP servers, agent skills, or plugins for agentic applications.
• Familiarity with AI IDEs, command-line tools, assistants, and agentic AI tooling.
• Experience building and operating CI/CD and automated testing infrastructure for libraries with many downstream version and platform combinations.
• Database experience, knowledge of database internals, query optimization, or MongoDB expertise.
• Experience with vector search, embedding pipelines, or index management.
• Working knowledge of Java, Go, C#, or Rust.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AI frameworks, and AI tooling.
• Experience instrumenting usage telemetry and using it to guide investment decisions.
• Familiarity with Jira.
