Senior Software Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own large components, services, and projects end to end, from design through operation.
• Coordinate across teams when work crosses organizational boundaries.
• Design highly complex solutions with availability, reliability, and maintainability as core constraints.
• Build and evolve backend services in Go, plus Python data and automation tooling.
• Develop APIs and event pipelines connecting services and telemetry systems.
• Lead production incident response, post-mortems, and long-term remediation.
• Drive greenfield service and capability development, helping determine when to prototype, ship an MVP, or invest in foundational work.
• Lead design discussions and provide clear technical direction.
• Mentor engineers and conduct code reviews focused on both code quality and professional growth.
• Improve engineering productivity through tooling, testing, and deployment practices, and measure outcomes.
• Contribute to team goals, delivery planning, hiring, and interviewing.

Requirements

• Significant professional experience building and operating production backend systems.
• Deep working knowledge of Go and Python.
• Mastery of primary programming languages and frameworks, with strong understanding of large codebases and service architecture.
• Experience owning systems at scale, including monitoring, on-call, incident response, and post-mortems.
• Experience designing distributed systems and APIs, including data modeling, failure modes, and performance tradeoffs.
• Ability to select appropriate development approaches and patterns for a given problem.
• Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and leading technical design discussions.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Telecom, networking, or connectivity experience, including SD-WAN, SASE, BGP, or circuit provisioning.
• Event streaming and high-volume telemetry ingestion experience.
• Cloud infrastructure and container orchestration experience.
• Infrastructure as code experience.
• Experience applying artificial intelligence and machine learning to operational data, including anomaly detection, classification, or automated remediation.
