Senior Software Engineer - Tax Payments
Senior software engineer responsible for designing reliable, distributed tax remittance systems operating globally across currencies, agencies, and compliance requirements. Requires 6+ years of programming experience and strong backend architecture and distributed-systems expertise, with Python, Django, React, MongoDB, and AWS preferred.

Responsibilities
- Design and evolve the core tax remittance product handling $30B+ across 40+ countries and 5,000+ tax agencies.
- Develop and optimize distributed systems for high-throughput, multi-currency tax remittances, agency cutoffs, retries, reconciliation, and failure recovery.
- Establish high standards for reliability, observability, security, and regulatory and audit readiness.
- Partner with Payroll, Banking, Finance Operations, Compliance, external payment partners, and tax agencies to define roadmaps, de-risk launches, and expand into new geographies and products.
- Participate in planning, code reviews, and team development.
- Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and help remove blockers to their autonomy.
Requirements
- 6+ years of programming experience.
- Experience architecting backend applications built on complex business logic.
- Experience building scalable distributed systems.
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, identify areas of impact, and independently pursue them.
- Passion for solving customer problems.
