Responsibilities
Technical Validation (Pre-Sales)
- Lead technical discovery, design bespoke architectures, and deliver demos and proofs of concept across security, networking, and developer platforms.
- Build technical champions and executive relationships within target accounts.
- Represent the company at industry events, developer communities, and cybersecurity conferences.
Customer Adoption & Value Realization
- Serve as the primary technical contact from contract signature through platform adoption.
- Lead technical onboarding and implementation, maintaining the engineering relationship throughout the process.
- Monitor customer health telemetry, resolve integration bottlenecks, and ensure rapid time-to-value.
Commercial Accountability & Expansion
- Carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition and account growth.
- Identify and drive cross-sell and upsell opportunities using platform usage data and customer objectives.
- Lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews that translate platform metrics into executive-level ROI.
Trusted Advisory
- Maintain relationships with stakeholders ranging from engineering leads to CISOs and CTOs throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Advise on architecture best practices, security posture, and platform strategy aligned with customer goals.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of the life of a request on the internet.
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role such as solutions engineering, customer engineering, sales engineering, or forward-deployed engineering.
- Broad technical expertise in:
- Web security, including WAF, DDoS mitigation, TLS, and Zero Trust/SASE.
- Networking, including BGP, DNS, SD-WAN, MPLS, and TCP/IP.
- Cloud infrastructure, including AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, from whiteboard architecture sessions to strategic business reviews.
- Experience integrating AI-augmented workflows into daily development, such as Windsurf or OpenCode.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with Workers, Workers AI, AI Gateway, and Vectorize.
- Applied AI knowledge, including prompt engineering, LLM orchestration, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, or Go for integration scripts, API connectors, and edge-computing functions.
- Familiarity with CDN, reverse proxy/WAF, forward proxy/SWG, and serverless application patterns.
- Experience building cloud-based applications.
- Experience building relationships and driving technical wins across multi-stakeholder enterprise accounts.
- Cloudflare platform certifications or meaningful hands-on deployment experience.
- Exposure to DevOps, security operations, or emerging generative AI trends.
- Relevant cloud, security, or networking certifications.
Compensation & Benefits
- New York-based hires: estimated annual salary of $202,000–$278,000.
- Eligible to participate in the company equity plan.
