Leads corporate communications strategy for Block’s lending and financial access initiatives across Square, Cash App, and Square Financial Services. Responsibilities
- Own communications strategy for Block's lending and financial access initiatives across Square, Cash App, and Square Financial Services.
- Develop a cohesive corporate narrative connecting lending, banking, and financial institution initiatives across Block.
- Partner with Square Financial Services, Legal, Risk, Compliance, Underwriting, Product, and business teams on communications strategies, executive messaging, and thought leadership.
- Build storytelling campaigns demonstrating how Block expands access to financial tools for consumers and small businesses.
- Create and manage an always-on communications program featuring customer and seller stories about lending and financial products.
- Support executive communications, media engagement, speaking opportunities, and key business milestones.
- Partner across Corporate Communications to ensure consistent external storytelling.
Requirements
- Experience in corporate communications, financial services communications, fintech, or another complex, regulated industry.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, including the ability to explain complex financial products, lending strategies, and business initiatives clearly.
- Experience developing proactive communications strategies that strengthen corporate reputation and support business growth.
- Strong executive communications experience, including messaging, thought leadership, and media strategies.
- Excellent cross-functional partnership skills with Legal, Risk, Compliance, Product, and business leaders.
- Experience managing media relationships and identifying opportunities for proactive business stories.
- Strong judgment in complex or high-profile communications moments.
- A builder's mindset and interest in creating communications programs and improving organizational storytelling.
Compensation and Benefits
- Starting pay is market-based and varies by location, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
- Zone A: $122,900–$184,300
- Zone B: $114,200–$171,400
- Zone C: $108,200–$162,200
- Zone D: $98,300–$147,500
