Responsibilities
- Develop and negotiate price, coverage, terms and conditions for all new business and renewals
- Actively identify target accounts that fit Shepherd’s underwriting appetite
- Market accounts and close deals with strong sales and marketing skills
- Manage producer relationships and drive new business development
- Negotiate on all levels with both internal and external partners
- Perform risk analysis with a solid background in construction and/or casualty underwriting
- Apply knowledge of compliance, coverage, products, and pricing strategies
- Make quick, informed underwriting decisions tailored to client needs using technology and data
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of previous experience in the commercial underwriting space (Construction, Casualty, and/or Builder's Risk experience preferred)
- Strong sales and marketing skills with ability to position accounts and close deals
- Exceptional interpersonal skills (verbal and written) and high EQ
- Strong work ethic, self-motivated, ability to manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
- Comfort with ambiguity
- Teamwork, communication, and negotiation skills
- Solid background in risk analysis and experience with construction and/or casualty underwriting
- Knowledge and proficiency with compliance, coverage, products and pricing strategies
- Adaptable and creative in a fast paced startup environment
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
