Staff Software Engineer, GI

Responsibilities

• Define the GI product line from scratch and help launch an end-to-end digital care experience.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Marketing to align strategy, experimentation roadmaps, and success metrics.
• Lead the technical roadmap across AI systems, UX interfaces, business logic middleware, hardware integration, and clinician support workflows.
• Develop prototypes and proofs of concept for challenging product capabilities.
• Build the GI product as a minimum lovable product and iterate using real member feedback after launch.
• Mentor and pair with engineers through best practices, code quality, experimentation, code reviews, and design discussions.
• Establish engineering practices for CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring, client performance, observability, reliability, accessibility, and scalability.
• Develop the most challenging software elements across the product roadmap.
• Drive cross-team initiatives that improve the end-to-end user journey.
• Set technical direction, contribute to production code, and lead through technical judgment and influence without people management.
• Run experiments, interpret results, and use data to guide roadmap decisions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of practical software engineering experience building and shipping user-facing applications in production.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or foreign equivalent.
• 2+ years of hands-on React Native experience building mobile applications at scale.
• Experience building brand-new products from scratch.
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript, React Native, and modern mobile development tooling.
• Experience working across the technology stack, including mobile applications, backend services, AI systems, and integrations.
• Ability to collaborate with product, design, and data/analytics partners.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineers through technical guidance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with large React Native codebases, TypeScript/Node.js, Go, GraphQL, and AWS services such as Lambda, SQS, SNS, and SageMaker.
• Experience with client-performance tooling, render optimization, DevOps, and application architecture patterns.
• Experience integrating product surfaces across platforms owned by different teams.
• Experience running A/B or multivariate tests on core product surfaces.
• Experience developing consumer-facing applications used by millions or billions of users.
• Experience in healthcare, HIPAA, or other regulated environments involving sensitive data.
• Familiarity with AI agents, computer vision, medical device integration, BFF/full-stack web development, and React Native.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary: $197,000–$296,000.
