About the role

What You Will Do

Own the Partner Relationship

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for every partner in your portfolio, building trust that outlasts any single ticket or QBR.
  • Understand each partner's business, goals, internal dynamics, and definition of success.
  • Build relationships with day-to-day operators and executives at each partner.
  • Represent Cardless internally as the voice of the partner, ensuring product, support, and leadership understand account needs.

Grow the Value of Existing Programs

  • Track performance of every program (activation, spend, retention) and identify levers that move the numbers.
  • Identify and pitch expansion opportunities (new features, segments, use cases) proactively.
  • Provide point of view on program performance compared to portfolio benchmarks.
  • Work with product and business teams to align roadmap priorities with partner impact.

Triage and Resolve Issues Across the Business

  • Own issue resolution from first call (outages, compliance, complaints) until closed.
  • Build internal relationships to pull in the right teams quickly (product, support, engineering, compliance).
  • Distinguish urgent issues from day-to-day friction.
  • Close the loop with partners transparently on what happened, actions taken, and expectations.

Spearhead and Create the Partner Growth Process

  • Run regular cadence of data-driven business reviews with clear next steps.
  • Maintain current view of account health across portfolio, flagging risks early.
  • Maintain systems (CRM, account plans, escalation logs) for scalable account management.
  • Provide regular reporting to leadership on portfolio health, growth opportunities, and upstream operational issues.

What We Are Looking For

Experience

  • 5-10 years in business development, partnerships, sales, or account management with meaningful exposure to financial services (ideally bank, card issuer, or payment network).
  • Demonstrated track record of cultivating and growing major enterprise partnerships through new milestones, processes, and top-line revenue.
  • Payments expertise, including working knowledge of schemes, payments risk and fraud, and other payments basics.

Skills and Competencies

  • Relationship Stewardship: Ability to deepen relationships over years and become the trusted first call.
  • Financial Services Fluency: Understand card program economics, players, contracts, and regulatory context to hold credible commercial conversations and spot performance issues.
  • Operational Discipline: Maintain clean portfolio visibility with nothing falling through cracks.
  • Communication and Presence: Effective with senior executives, delivering hard news, defusing escalations, and running polished QBRs; strong writing skills.
  • Cross-Functional Orchestration: Navigate internal teams to solve partner problems quickly.
  • Judgment and Autonomy: Prioritize across accounts and make independent decisions without heavy management.

This Role Is Not a Fit If

  • You want to focus on new business sales (this is about maximizing success of existing customers).
  • You lack meaningful financial services experience in banking, cards, or payments.
  • You require remote or hybrid work arrangements.
