Internal Communications Director

Responsibilities

  • Own the strategy and execution of the internal communications program during company updates, organizational changes, and major announcements.
  • Lead planning, narrative development, and production for All Hands and other company-wide forums, from executive talking points through live or recorded delivery.
  • Build and expand internal video communications, including executive updates, milestone recaps, and storytelling content.
  • Evolve employee communications channels, formats, and cadence beyond one-off announcements.
  • Own Slack, intranet, email, and video channels, ensuring targeted, timely, and consistent messaging.
  • Draft and refine CEO and leadership communications, talking points, and briefing materials.
  • Partner with Corporate Communications, Legal, and People teams on proactive and reactive communications for sensitive or high-stakes announcements.
  • Ensure employees hear key news before or alongside external audiences and maintain internal/external message consistency.
  • Develop surveys, pulse checks, forums, and other listening mechanisms to measure sentiment and communications effectiveness.
  • Advise executives and cross-functional leaders on internal messaging and change communications.
  • Manage and mentor internal communications talent and coordinate with agencies or contractors for video and content production.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in internal, corporate, or executive communications, preferably leading internal communications at a high-growth company.
  • Experience producing All Hands and executive forums from narrative development through live or recorded delivery.
  • Hands-on experience building video communications and modern, multi-channel employee engagement programs.
  • Experience advising and writing for C-suite leaders.
  • Exceptional storytelling and writing skills, including the ability to translate complex or sensitive priorities into clear, memorable messaging.
  • Experience supporting crisis, issues, or change communications with Legal and Corporate Communications.
  • Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Comfort using AI-enabled tools for messaging development and communications analysis, with sound judgment regarding appropriate use.
  • Senior-level individual contributor role.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Annual compensation range: $181,000–$214,000 USD.
  • Benefits may include health, pharmacy, optical and dental coverage; paid and sick time off; short- and long-term disability coverage; life insurance; and a 401(k) contribution, subject to eligibility requirements.
