Responsibilities
- Define Factory’s communications strategy with company leadership, informed by market and competitor insights.
- Own the company narrative across product milestones, customer outcomes, thought leadership, and campaigns.
- Serve as primary spokesperson and media liaison; build relationships with top-tier press.
- Lead product, funding, partnership, and thought-leadership announcements end to end.
- Develop issues-management, crisis-communications, and rapid-response infrastructure.
- Grow owned audiences and executive visibility across relevant channels.
- Coach executives, leaders, and spokespeople.
- Improve Factory’s discoverability and citation across search engines and AI answer engines.
- Own internal and employee communications, including talent and recruiting narratives.
- Build and manage an internal communications team and agency partnerships as needed.
Requirements
- 10+ years of communications experience at high-growth technology companies, including senior leadership experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication and storytelling skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into compelling narratives for broad audiences.
- Extensive hands-on media-relations experience and a strong top-tier press network.
- Strong understanding of traditional and new media, content distribution, search, and AI answer-engine dynamics.
- Proven experience managing issues and crisis communications in high-stakes situations.
- Proficiency with modern communications, measurement, and analytics tools.
- Ability to operate strategically and hands-on in a lean, rapidly scaling function.
- High agency, low ego, strong judgment, and bias to action.
- Epistemic humility, curiosity, and interest in understanding technology.
Work Arrangement
- In-office five days per week in San Francisco or New York City.
