Engineering Manager responsible for building and developing autonomous, high-performing engineering teams across Europe while remaining technically hands-on. The role emphasizes coaching, direct feedback, technical depth, recruiting, and improving team processes and automation.

Responsibilities
- Build and manage a growing team of engineers in Europe.
- Focus on individual performance, process, and culture rather than running sprint planning or making product and technical decisions.
- Coach engineers to take ownership of large, loosely defined projects and deliver them with little intervention.
- Provide feedback on product and technical specifications, helping engineers cut scope or improve quality.
- Debug customer issues, ship small bug fixes, and improve developer experience while staying off the critical path.
- Improve data generation and simulation for demo accounts.
- Identify team patterns, improve operating processes, and build automation to support them.
- Recruit and grow exceptional engineers.
- Give direct feedback, facilitate organizational change, and build systems that help engineers perform at a high standard.
Requirements
- Passion for both engineering management and hands-on technical work.
- Ability to hold in-depth technical conversations across infrastructure, backend, and frontend engineering.
- Enjoyment of management challenges, including coaching, difficult feedback, and team development.
- High standards and willingness to engage in technical details.
- Excellent, empathetic communication skills.
- Strong understanding of what makes exceptional engineers, how to recruit them, and how to develop them.
- Ability to think about product, business, and design while empowering teams to make decisions.
- Comfort working in high-trust, high-autonomy startup environments.
- Willingness to code and stay current with technology.
