Responsibilities

Technical Strategy & Execution

  • Set technical direction across backend, frontend, data, and third-party systems.
  • Balance technical investments with new product delivery.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, mentor, and retain a talented engineering team.
  • Coach, grow, and scale engineering managers or team leads.

Domain & Roadmap Ownership

  • Own complex, high-impact systems spanning billing, accounting, member eligibility, and enrollment.
  • Define durable roadmaps that drive strategic outcomes.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with engineering, product, data science, and operations.
  • Align on key programs, measure impact, and enable rapid experimentation.

Balance & Velocity

  • Balance sustainable, high-impact projects with rapid software delivery.
  • Prioritize immediate user value while maintaining long-term technical health.

Continuous Improvement

  • Improve the codebase, systems architecture, and engineering processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing and providing technical leadership to engineering teams.
  • Proven experience hiring, coaching, or developing engineering managers or team leads.
  • Deep technical expertise across backend, frontend, data, and third-party integrations.
  • Strong familiarity with distributed services using Python and/or Go.
  • Experience owning complex transactional systems, particularly billing, financial accounting, membership eligibility, or customer enrollment systems.
  • Track record of building, mentoring, and scaling diverse, inclusive, and high-performing engineering teams.
  • Ability to motivate teams and foster a strong sense of ownership.
  • Ability to thrive in cross-functional environments and drive projects to completion.
  • Ability to collaborate with product partners and help set product vision for ambiguous projects.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience working in a HIPAA-compliant or similarly regulated environment, such as fintech or health tech.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation range: $230,000–$250,000.
