Senior Consulting Engineer

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end technical delivery of enterprise data migration engagements, including source assessment, migration strategy, wave planning, schema and data-model transformation, pipeline development, validation, and production cutover.
• Design and operate change data capture (CDC) pipelines for zero- and near-zero-downtime migrations using Kafka, connectors, Debezium, and comparable cloud-native replication services.
• Apply deep knowledge of distributed NoSQL platforms, including Cassandra, Azure Cosmos DB, and Amazon DocumentDB, to identify data-model, partitioning, compatibility, consistency, and failure-mode risks.
• Collaborate directly with enterprise architects, DBAs, platform teams, and executives from initial design through production war rooms.
• Own engagement planning, execution, post-engagement follow-up, risk identification, and opportunity discovery.
• Partner with Solutions Architects, Engagement Managers, and account teams to scope migration opportunities, develop statements of work, and create estimation models.
• Build AI-assisted migration tooling for estate assessment, schema and data-model conversion, query and code translation, and large-scale validation.
• Convert field experience into migration playbooks, reference architectures, estimation models, tooling improvements, and team enablement.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering on the migration-tooling roadmap.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or consulting delivery focused on data platforms and production-scale data movement.
• Hands-on experience with Apache Cassandra, Azure Cosmos DB, Amazon DocumentDB, or another distributed NoSQL platform.
• Real-world CDC and streaming-pipeline experience, including connectors, Debezium or equivalent tooling, schema evolution, delivery semantics, and backfill-plus-tail patterns.
• Experience with relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java, Python, Node.js, C#, or Go.
• Working fluency with AI in engineering workflows.
• Strong analytical, diagnostic, problem-solving, customer interaction, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in entrepreneurial, evolving environments.
• Willingness to travel up to approximately 30%, primarily within EMEA.

Nice to Have

• Experience building with LLMs and coding agents beyond personal productivity use.
• Experience with Spark or Flink pipelines, dual-write patterns, cloud database migration services, or data-validation frameworks.
• Architecture-level experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with vendor-side or consulting-side competitive platform displacements.
• Practical MongoDB experience.
• Fluency in a second European language relevant to the market.
