Senior Revenue Accounting Manager

Own revenue close, recognition, contract review, billing, sales tax, controls, and process improvements for a SaaS finance organization. Requires a bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of accounting experience with strong ASC 606 expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Own key components of monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue close, including revenue recognition, deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 606 and applicable accounting standards.
  • Review customer contracts and non-standard arrangements to determine appropriate revenue recognition.
  • Partner with Sales, Deal Desk, Legal, FP&A, and Finance on accounting implications of new products, pricing structures, and complex deals.
  • Review and approve revenue-related journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve revenue accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Own billing operations, including review and validation of sales tax on customer invoices.
  • Own sales tax compliance processes, including reviews of nexus, taxability, and potential exposure.
  • Support internal and external audits with revenue-related schedules and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and scale revenue processes.
  • Partner with Finance Systems and stakeholders on revenue system enhancements and process improvements.
  • Support implementation and optimization of revenue functionality within NetSuite and other systems.
  • Provide analysis and insights to Finance leadership.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert on revenue recognition for the Finance organization.
  • Mentor and support Revenue team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 6–10+ years of accounting experience, including significant revenue accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and revenue recognition principles.
  • Experience managing complex customer contracts and revenue arrangements.
  • Strong understanding of month-end and quarter-end close processes, reconciliations, and internal controls.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in a SaaS or subscription-based technology company.
  • Understanding of subscription, usage-based, and professional services revenue models.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite, particularly SuiteBilling and revenue functionality.
  • Experience implementing, optimizing, or scaling revenue recognition processes and systems.
  • CPA or equivalent accounting qualification.
  • Experience in a high-growth technology environment.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $170,000–$205,000 annually.
  • Eligible for stock options and a comprehensive benefits package.
