Compliance Manager

The Compliance Manager oversees medical records operations and external audits, translating healthcare, privacy, regulatory, and contractual requirements into sustainable processes. The role requires extensive healthcare privacy or records experience, audit coordination experience, and a bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day medical records activities.
  • Oversee vendor and team performance.
  • Manage external audits from intake through findings and remediation closure.
  • Partner with Legal, Privacy, Clinical, Financial Operations, Partnerships, and other stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements into practical, sustainable processes.
  • Interpret regulatory, contractual, and operational requirements and translate them into practical processes.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders on compliance concerns and risks.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related professional experience in healthcare privacy, medical records, release-of-information processes, or health information management.
  • 3+ years of related professional experience managing or coordinating external audits, regulatory reviews, or similar oversight activities.
  • 3+ years of experience interpreting regulatory, contractual, and operational requirements and translating them into practical processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, health information management, compliance, or a related field.
  • Experience collaborating with business and key stakeholders, including Legal, on compliance concerns and risks.
  • Strong and concise verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and/or Juris Doctor, or equivalent advanced training in healthcare law.
  • 2+ years of experience in telehealth, privacy, and/or behavioral health compliance.
  • Experience working with third-party medical records fulfillment vendors.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Zendesk, electronic health record systems, and healthcare practice management platforms.
  • Compliance, privacy, audit, or health information management certification.
  • Experience overseeing operational workflows, vendors, staff, or cross-functional projects.
